Emotions are like water, strong currents that can drag you down and lift you up.

Always flowing.

Capturing the essence of emotion and sealing them in encaustic, Sugi Ban, and 3D colour. I invite you to flow with me through the emotions exhibition.

LONELINESS - Emotional Moods

Needing a guide, your strength and the right hand to pull me up. My confidence is growing with every fallen leaf.

GENEROSITY - EMOTIONAL MOODS

Let me bring you wealth, prosperity and gain. Gold is hidden with my veins.

COMPASSION - Emotional Moods

Let me soothe your soul, mend your tired muscles and rejuvenate your body. I am infused with health and well-being.

ACCEPTANCE - Emotional Power

Accept me for who I am. Each flower is unique and amazing on their own - when we come together we bring beauty to the world.

AWARENESS - Emotional Power

Let me tell the world about your kindness. Cover the Earth with floral beauty. Make people aware of your passion and share it with everyone.

ACTION - Emotional Power

I will fight for those who can not grow tall on their own. Nothing will stand in my way. Together we will change the world for the better.

ACCOMMODATION - Emotional Power

What can I do to help make things easier? Lift your spirit when you are tired. Protect you from the storm, hide under my leaves.

TRUST - Emotional Sensations

The bridge between colours that stress them cannot be broken, but could if you don’t say the right thing. So be careful. Choose your words wisely - if you do you might be able to just make it across to the other side.

HOPE - Emotional Sensations

A feeling some people understand, it’s a swirl of different colours not blending but coexisting together, not merging, but living with each other. Offering glimmers of perhaps and maybe.

FORGIVENESS - Emotional Sensations

Sometimes when you ask for forgiveness you feel a sense of fear with blues, reds, yellows and greens, a whole mesh of colours and when you get forgiven, you feel relieved with happiness, yellows, reds and oranges.

ANTICIPATION - 3D Emotions

All these emotions. So powerful - coming together to create colourful expressions of bright opportunities, capturing the soul and opening the imagination.

HARMONY - 3D Emotions

They say goddesses are created and not born. I say this is true to form. Your golden light rises like a new dawn - every single emotion is in perfect balance. You are who we strive to be.

Hearts Matter

From 2 years to 92 years, teen artist Aiden Lee has inspired over 100 hearts to add to a beautiful community installation called, “Hearts Matter.”

Each colourful heart rendition is presented on a 6”by 6” canvas that takes the viewer on an emotional journey of how all our hearts would look if captured in colours, shape and design.

Do you hear that?

The Oakville YMCA offers a peek into the hearts of the community and allows the viewer to see the beauty in the collective. ‘Hearts matter’ From our physical dedication to keeping our hearts healthy to the awareness of acceptance, that we all have hearts that deserve, respect, love and protection.

‘Do you hear that? Something slow and constantly making a beat. It seems to be getting faster and faster and getting louder and louder. I wonder what it is... An animal? A human? Something not from here? I can’t seem to recognize what it is. But it has a feeling, a warm and safe feeling. A feeling that makes me feel like I belong.

Maybe this beat is for me...maybe it’s for everyone.

A movable 'thought bubble' that expresses the importance of collective communication while also celebrating diversity and inclusion. This exhibition is a one-of-a-kind collaborative design that connects viewers, students, artists, and teachers through our desire to be heard and expressed through art.
